The Human Rights Campaign Foundation named eight New Jersey companies to its annual list of top employers for promoting fair and equal treatment for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees.

Schering-Plough, Merck, Honeywell International, Prudential Financial, Johnson & Johnson, Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya and Chubb made the list.

The foundation noted that more than half of Fortune 500 companies now offer equal benefits to employees’ domestic partners, and more than 80 percent have anti-discrimination policies relating to sexual orientation.
