Two-thirds of people responding to a survey said they've taken office supplies from work, and a majority said they don't consider it stealing.

Most popular items (in order): pens, Post-It notes, envelopes, notepads, paper, paper clips, highlighters, markers, rubber bands, stamps and blank CDs. Three percent admitted stealing pricey items, such as office chairs and software.

Advice: Write a theft policy that mentions office supplies; then store the supplies where everyone can see them, or lock supply closets and distribute supplies as needed.
