This time of year traditionally sees a spike in the number of seasonal workers hired, whether to fill in for vacationing employees or to meet customer demands.  Here are tips on recruiting and employing seasonal workers, as well as on transitioning them to full-time employment.  


Recruiting Seasonal Workers

Job postings for seasonal work typically result in a flood of applications, but it can be difficult to find individuals who are qualified and committed.  To that end, be sure to tap these valuable resources.

  • Current employees.  Ask for referrals.

  • Seasonal workers from previous years.  Stay in touch with them throughout the year, e.g., send the company's quarterly newsletter to them, too.  Bonus: They already know the ropes. 

  • Frequent customers.  Bonus: They already know and love the product.

Phrase the employment duration as, for example, "not more than 60 days" as opposed to "60 days" so as not to...(register to read more)
