More than 2,700 staffers at five hospitals run by Hospital Corporation of America will get pay raises following ratification of a new contract by members of the United Healthcare Workers-West (UHW) union.

The contract covers licensed vocational nurses, respiratory care practitioners, certified nurse assistants and environmental service workers at Good Samaritan Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Northern California and Los Robles Hospital, Riverside Community Hospital and West Hills Medical Center in Southern California.

Under the terms of the new agreement, the Southern California employees will receive 3% raises retroactive to April 1, 2010. They’ll receive annual raises between 2% and 4% for the next three years.

UHW members at the three Northern California hospitals will receive raises of between 2% and 2.5% retroactive to July 1, 2010. Subsequent pay increases between 2% and 4% will follow for the next three years.

The four-year agreement, ratified by a 90% majority, maintains employer-paid family health care benefits.
