Start with a simple circle and experiment with the new powerful graphics tools in PowerPoint® 2007/2010. Very soon, you’ll find yourself forgetting all about hours of working in custom graphics packages, painstakingly crafting creative objects to enhance your presentations.

From the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, select Shapes. Draw a simple oval. Then, with the shape selected, you’ll notice the Drawing Tools contextual tab.

In the Shape Styles group, click on the more button for Styles and hover over the various selections. If the shape is visible, you can see the effect of each one.

Now choose a precise fill color, pattern or texture. Do the same for outline if you wish.

Now for the cool stuff! Experiment with the different Shape Effects. Everything from shadows, to reflections and 3-D.
