Question: If you could change one thing about your workspace, what would it be?  -- Amy Beth Miller, Editor, Personal Report for the Administrative Professional

I'd have an office. Working in a cubicle makes it very hard to work on confidential materials if you are a supervisor.

If your company allows it - make it your own.
Bring in things that make you feel happy, relaxed and at ease. There are enough things to stress over during the day - what you look at and are around your should offer comfort and peace.
It does not take much to personalize a space and make it an enjoyable area.

If I could change one thing, I'd have an office instead of a cubicle. Although it's a very nice cubicle and I've made it as comfy as possible, there's no privacy to work on confidential info or conduct private meetings or phone calls. I can't tell you how many times I've had to take my cell phone and go sit out in the car to make a confidential business call or personal call. Another cubicle annoyance is having to sit facing away from the door.

I would have windows in my office looking outside.

If I could change one thing about my work space it would be to alleviate noise pollution. I have what you call a make shift office space behind file cabinets whose purpose was to help provide some privacy(not), it is very hard to concentrate on your work when you hear everyone on the floor conversations. Also, I would like to add an window.

Natural lighting! I work in a manufacturing environment - NO WINDOWS! I believe the experts say that natural lighting will help moral and moods in a working environment.

I would have natural light. I can tell in the afternoon when I need to step outside to get good light. The overhead lights are either to bright or they are burnt out. No happy medium.....

If I could change anything about my workspace, it would be to turn it into an office with a door! As with most of corporate America, I have a work area that is in the open, near my boss of course. This allows no privacy and seems to invite people to come visit when they have down time (even if I am busy). Only twice in my embarassingly long career have I had an office as an admin.

Other than that, I really enjoy my job and the people with whom I work.

I have already changed my workspace to reflect my desire and calming of feng shui! I love it and ppl have made nice comments about how calming it looks. I do not have things that would represent religion as that might offend ppl. I have red, candles (will never light), and plants. It is on my credensa.
