Goodie bag ideas
Question: I’m helping to plan an event in April for Administrative Professionals and we’d like to create a “goodie bag” with different treats.
We’d like to include a tag with each item referencing each treat, such as a pack of Extra gum with a tag saying “Thanks for going the EXTRA mile” or a miniature Crunch bar and a note saying “You always help out in a CRUNCH.”
Has anyone done this before? Do you have any ideas you’d like to share? — Ann

I went through all of the different kits and pulled ideas from each of them. My survival kit was a hit!

It’s so nice that you want to say “Thank You” by putting together a goodie basket. I say buy a gift certificate for a manicure or pedicure and let them relax for an hour or so. That will be remembered far longer than the candy bar and gum. JoAnn

If you hand out gift certificates, do it manually. Our company issues them via email, through a service, and maybe it’s easier, or more efficient, but it irritables the hell out of me because they are only usable at the online stores they feature. They’re not for huge amounts, so it’s difficult to find anything you want, then you have to pay postage and handling fees to the store on top of that. I got a $15 Target certificate that way and spent 20 minutes on-line looking for something priced about $11. I thought I would come under the total, but I ended up having to give my personal credit card on line (which I HATE to do), to get a paperback mailed to me! So the email service took it’s cut, and Target got the business, plus a hefty mailing and handling fee out of the whole thing. If I could have walked into Target with my gift certificate, I would have been a lot happier!

Check out Baudville.com. They have wonderfully creative ideas for give-aways and they aren’t terribly expensive. We keep a supply of their “TEAM(Together Everyone Achieves More”-work and “You are a Star” products, among others, for spur-of-the-moment thank-yous. They have great ideas for “goodie” bags.

This idea was shared at one of our IAAP chapter meetings. The goodies were given to a group of volunteers.
Volunteer Survival Kit
The Peppermint is to thank you for your commit”mint” to helping others.
The Smarties will keep you thinking logically to solve tough problems.
The Laffy Taffy will remind you to always keep your sense of humor.
The Snickers is to remind to you laugh more and enjoy life.
The LifeSaver is to express gratitude for your service.
The Tootsie Roll will remind to of the important “role” you play.
The Bubble Gum will help you “stick together” with fellow volunteers to complete any task.
The Starburst is to give you a burst of energy so you can keep on going.

We use goodie tags often in our school for teachers during testing dates, last week of school, teacher appreciation week, etc.
