Question: I’m looking for sample job descriptions for an executive assistant to the President/CEO.  Any ideas where to look? — Frannee Johnson


I was looking for one a few years ago and all I did was search Google for "executive assistant job description" and several came up. I can't think of a particular site that had any one better than another. You would have to modify it to suit your own position of course, but I'm sure there are hundreds to choose from. The Executive Assistant is a seasoned professional who combines an overall understanding of an Executive's day-to-day responsibilities while working with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgment and maintaining confidentiality. The Executive Assistant understands the requirement for flexibility and accommodates shifting priorities while representing and supporting the Executive in planning, directing, managing and coordinating the Corporation's views and interests.


Support the Executive in planning, directing, managing and coordinating day-to-day business activities

Serve as point of contact for corporate staff and clients

Facilitate the Executive's accessibility and open lines of communication with staff

Maintain Executive's calendar, screen incoming telephone calls and greet visitors

I actually worked on a project at the State of CA writing an Exec Assistant job description. What you can do is go to and look at every single duty statement for every position available in the State. There are all kinds of different jobs out there, so this may be really helpful to you.

As a previous Executive Assistant to a CEO, most hospitals employ this position. That would be a great place to start.
