Virginia-based Stanley Furniture has settled a racial harassment suit filed by three employees at the furniture manufacturer’s former plant in Lexington.
According to the suit, the workers, Johnny Wright, Darlene Dickerson and Elease Griffin, were subject to racial epithets and were told to “go back to the jungle to see their ancestors.”
Under the settlement, the three will split $80,000, and the company will be subject to EEOC monitoring at all its locations. The company must reissue its anti-discrimination policy and provide anti-discrimination training to all its managers.
