Go to Google and search "nursing compentencies" - a lot of sites come up and you can probably find something in there to help you out and you can tailor it to your needs.

For those of us who don't work in health care, you might have to explain what that consists of to get advice. Is it one score? Or one line of data? Then of course you can use excel. If it is more complicated data, you might try access or another database - you don't have to build it from scratch - you can find one of their templates that is pre-designed for a similar use.

Yes, I can help you build an Excel track sheet. On the left hand side type in the names of the individuals. Type the names of each competency in a seperate column going to the right. Turn the typing vertical so the columns don't get too wide. After each individuals name put a 1 (one) in each cell for each competency she/he has. You can put in a formula to count all the numbers which shows you on a simple way how many competencies each person has.
If some competencies are valued higher than others you can add a formula to increase the value of the compentency so the end result will be higher. You can also put dates in the columns if you need to keep track of whether they have a specific competency and/or when they received this. You can tally this way horizontal and vertical. Horizontal will give you the value per individual; vertical will show you how many individuals have a specific competency. If you need an example, email me at ilja.p.kraag@kp.org |
