The Internal Revenue Service just last week issued the 2008 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business purposes. Beginning Jan. 1, 2008, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (including vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be 50.5 cents per mile for business miles driven. That's up from 48.5 cents per mile in 2007.

thats all fine but doesnt help with normal commutes and my company doenst believe in COLA, or yearly increases for exceptional service. they have these ceilings and would rather a great employee quit to hire a HS kid than pay me a little more.
