Bosses say they know admins’ needs

Managers believe they’re getting better at deducing what admins need. Uh-huh.

Seventy-four percent of managers say they’ve improved their ability to identify and provide resources to staff before being asked, reports a recent survey.

But only 34% of admins agree, and 43% somewhat or strongly disagree. Administrative staff say that managers aren’t as intuitive as they think. So be clear about what you need to tackle important tasks.

“An early warning about a task that consumes an inordinate amount of time can alert managers to trouble spots they might otherwise have missed,” says Diane Domeyer, former executive director of OfficeTeam.
