The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has announced that Texas will receive a $5 million grant to help respond to military base realignment and closures.
The DOL’s Employment and Training Administration awarded the money to the Texas Workforce Commission for assessment, counseling, case , job training, certification, job placement and follow-up services. The money will help 3,727 Texas civilians employed by the U.S. Department of Defense.
The state will receive half of the $5 million initially. The rest of the money will be available as the state demonstrates need.
