Entrepreneurs are hot. You can make your workers feel like business owners by turning over entire areas of responsibility to small teams. Give them a budget and a business goal, and let them work it out. Manage according to the less-is-more philosophy, providing guidance where necessary but not intruding on a daily basis. If you can make technicians and support staff feel like they’re running the show, you will have more motivated and knowledgeable employees.
