Take compliments by sharing credit with your teammates

in Best-Practices Leadership,Leaders & Managers

A boss praises you for a job well done. As much as you may want to prolong the moment, don’t. Also avoid oozing embarrassment or giving a curt “thanks” and walking away.

Instead, use this opportunity to transfer the glory to another worker or your team. Briefly explain how you couldn’t have done it alone. Example: “Here’s how we cut the error rate in half.” By sharing the credit, you enhance your power. Recognizing coworkers demonstrates leadership. Higher-ups will remember it.
