Do your part to retain good employees. You may not be able to dole out raises, but you can pose thought-provoking questions to the admins you manage: “fresh-out-ofschool” admins or summer interns.
Frequently ask them, “What are your plans for the future?” Then set them on the right path. Example: Introduce a young admin who wants to do event planning to the office’s primary social planner.
