Feedback reminder

When we joined a highly placed financial exec for lunch at the company cafeteria recently, we learned a leadership lesson when she asked a friendly cashier, “So, what’s on people’s minds today?”

The cashier told her that people were concerned about new security measures in the building.

That simple exchange reminded us how important it is to ask for feedback from people throughout the ranks, not only from direct reports.
