A ‘Hollywood’ model for productive teams

by on
in Best-Practices Leadership,Leaders & Managers

High-powered teams function like the high-powered creative groups that produce Hollywood movies, says leadership guru Warren Bennis. Here’s how to build a Hollywood-style team of your own:
  • Stress that people are coming together for a finite amount of time to work on a specific project. That builds a strong group identity.
  • Promote the belief that the group functions without a hierarchical structure.
  • Create a hothouse environment by stressing that the group’s goal is to produce something really exceptional.
  •  Talk in visionary terms about the goal so members develop a certain childlike innocence and optimism that what they’re doing is about to change the world.
