Searching for a way to send and receive faxes through e-mail, so you can banish the time-consuming, paper-eating fax machine? Here’s what other admins recommend:
EasyLink (free trial; www.easylink.com): “This is a wonderful software program that delivers faxes straight to your e-mail inbox. You can e-mail to a regular fax number, as well (even outside the United States). I’ve used EasyLink since 2003 and it’s one program that I would be absolutely lost without!” — Kathy Melkovitz
Rightfax (price varies; www.captaris.com): “We can send and receive faxes directly to our desktop.” — Rhonda
Send2Fax ($11.95 per month; www.send2fax.com): “It is wonderful. You can send and receive through this online account. What is nice about it is you don’t need software on your computer. If you have an Internet connection, you just login, and you can see faxes you have received and sent. You also get them in your inbox.” — Connie Broadie
CallWave ($7.95 per month; www.callwave.com): Converts an unlimited number of incoming faxes to PDF files and delivers them directly to your e-mail inbox.
EFax (free to receive faxes; www.efax.com): “It’s great. The fax goes directly to your e-mail.” — Gladys
Windows XP: “Microsoft has a built-in fax service in Windows XP. You can use the fax service to send, receive, track and monitor faxes.” — Christy
