Bisquick and Tide, we all know the names. But how do a select handful of products hold their market share for decades?

Leadership. What kind of leadership thinking is behind that endurance?

Getting everyone to make continuous small improvements in everything they do, even though they are in the lead, bolsters endurance, according to Theodore Levitt, Professor of Business Administration Emeritus at Harvard.

“Sustained success is largely a matter of focusing regularly on the right things and making a lot of uncelebrated little improvements every day,” Levitt writes. “Getting better one step at a time adds up.”
