Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim Helú, who recently beat out Bill Gates as the richest man on earth, takes an unconventional view of how to establish his legacy.

In New York a few years back to receive an award for his work building infrastructure in the developing world, the Mexican tycoon known simply as “Slim” brought along his entire family, including three sons, who dine with him every night, vacation with him and have followed him into business.

In his acceptance speech, Slim said, “Many people want to leave a better world for their children. I’m trying to leave better children for my world.”
