Are you stretching or just straining?

by on
in Leaders & Managers,Management Training

How do you know if you need to stretch? Ask yourself these questions:
  1. Have you failed to seek job assignments that push you to the edge of your comfort zone?

  2. Do you avoid high-stakes assignments?

  3. Have you hit a plateau in building networks and relationships both internally and externally?

  4. Are you focusing on near-term performance goals to the exclusion of longer-term learning?
More than two of these “cocooning” behaviors should warn you that you need to take stock and move your career back on course.
