Starting June 27, if you set up a charitable remainder trust (CRT), you'll need to jump through new IRS hoops. To avoid potential conflicts with the state laws protecting inheritances of surviving spouses, you must obtain a written waiver from your "better half" to preserve the trust's tax benefits.
