If you’re battling a cold or the flu, it’s best to just take a sick day. Sometimes, though, that isn’t possible and you have to be in the office for some reason. Here are some tips:
Dress in layers. If you have a fever, your comfortable temperature is going to fluctuate.
Use medicine carefully. Avoid cold remedies that will make you drowsy.
Don’t complain. If you whine about how bad you feel, it will make everyone else feel worse—and worry that you’re contagious.
Keep the fluids coming. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and help keep your head clear.
Make the day easy as possible. Only do the work that must be done. You’ll be much more effective with everything else when you feel better.
Admit defeat. When you’re just getting worse and becoming useless at work, go home or call your doctor.
