NOTE: Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays as observed in the District of Columbia are taken into account to determine due dates. Under the federal deposit rules, you’re allowed a deposit shortfall of the greater of $100 or 2% of your tax liability.

Semiweekly and monthly deposits are for the deposits of FICA and withheld income taxes due on wages paid during the time periods indicated.

Feb. 1

Semiweekly deposit for wages paid on Jan. 25, 26 and 27.

Feb. 3

Semiweekly deposit for wages paid on Jan. 28, 29, 30 and 31.

Feb. 8

Semiweekly deposit for wages paid on Feb. 1, 2 and 3.

Feb. 10

Semiweekly deposit for wages paid on Feb. 4, 5, 6 and 7.

Quarterly filers, file Form 941 for the fourth quarter of 2016. This due date applies only if you deposited the tax for the quarter in full and on time. If not, you should have filed the return by Jan. 31. Annual filers, file Form 944 for 2016. This due date applies only if you deposited the tax for the year in full and on time. If not, you should have filed the return by Jan. 31. All employers, file Forms 940 and 945 for 2016. This due date applies only if you deposited the tax for the year in full and on time. If not, you should have filed these forms by Jan. 31.

Employees who work for tips. If employees received $20 or more in tips during January, they should report them to you on Form 4070.

Feb. 15

Semiweekly deposit for wages paid on Feb. 8, 9 and 10.

Monthly deposit for wages paid in January, if the semiweekly deposit rule didn’t apply.

All businesses. Provide attorney recipients with Forms 1099-MISC, if gross proceeds are reported in Box 14.

Feb. 16

All employers. Begin withholding federal income taxes from employees who claimed an exemption from income tax withholding in 2016, but failed to give you a new W-4 form continuing the exemption for 2017.

Feb. 17

Semiweekly deposit for wages paid on Feb. 11, 12, 13 and 14.

Feb. 23

Semiweekly deposit for wages paid on Feb. 15, 16 and 17.

Feb. 24

Semiweekly deposit for wages paid on Feb. 18, 19, 20 and 21.

Feb. 28

Employers with incentive stock option plans, file paper Forms 3921 with the IRS; employers with employee stock purchase plans, file paper Forms 3922 with the IRS. If you file electronically, your due date is March 31.

Large employers file paper Forms 1095-C/1094-C with the IRS. Small self-insured employers file paper Forms 1095-B/1094-B with the IRS. If you file electronically, your due date is March 31.

All businesses. File paper Forms 1099 Series and Form 1096, except Forms 1099-MISC on which nonemployee compensation is reported in Box 7, with the IRS. If you file electronically, your due date is March 31.
