Ticket reseller Hugh Dodman keeps not merely a low profile but a barely existent one. It’s hard to believe in today’s self-aggrandizing culture. “You would have to pry out of him that he actually owns this business,” says one observer.

Dodman is president and CEO of Riverfront Choice Tickets—better known as 333seat.com—which resells tickets for concerts, sports, theater and special events. Yet, Dodman is anonymous. One industry worker compared him to a unicorn and the Loch Ness monster. Some are only vaguely familiar with him, while others refuse to acknowledge him or claim to be unaware of his existence. “Don’t know anything about him,” says Mike Smith, executive director of Riverbend Music Center.

For ticket buyers, he may as well be a ghost. He hasn’t granted an interview in nearly 30 years. In the murky waters of ticket resellers, that’s something of a badge of honor.
