Wage-and-hour lawsuits are growing exponentially, according to the fourth Annual Workplace Class Action Litigation Report from national law firm Seyfarth Shaw LLP.

The report showed that class actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) dominated the legal scene, beating out class actions for employment discrimination or the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). Another notable trend is the increase in back-wage suits on behalf of higher-income employees, such as those in financial services.

The U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida led the way with more wage-and-hour filings than any other federal jurisdictions, the report showed. Other states with significant growth in those claims included Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.
