If you’ve worked at the same job for several years, chances are you’ve fallen into a routine that could hurt your initiative, writes The Muse’s Katie Douthwaite Wolf. Here are four signs you could be hurting your career:
- You quit sharing your ideas. Sharing ideas helps you improve in the workplace, so if you’ve eliminated this element from your daily input, you’ve probably lost the drive to improve.
- You don’t share your objections. You may feel like no one is hearing what you’re saying, but sharing opinions about issues in a company fosters successful discussions. Don’t be afraid to speak up about your disagreements.
- You don’t know what’s going on in the company. It’s important to stay up to date on what your company expects of you and to improve as your company improves.
- You quit taking initiative. Settling in a daily routine can make things drab in the work world, but taking initiative can get you out of that pattern. Don’t be afraid to step up and ask for more work. In fact, it could give you a better outlook on the job.
