When you buy a new phone, you know how frustrating it can be to transfer all the information from one phone to another.

Here are some tips to help make that transfer less frustrating:

•  Back up your contacts and data to the cloud. Whether it is through the operating system (Google), the carrier (Verizon) or the phone manufacturer (Samsung / Apple), take the time to back up your contacts to a cloud platform.

•  Use Dropbox to back up your documents and pictures from your phone. By backing up your pictures to Dropbox, even if you accidentally lose your phone, you don’t lose your pictures. Also, if you change from an Android to an iPhone, you just install Dropbox and all your pictures are right there.

•  Make sure you back up your apps. Many apps, like TO-DO and Android Memo, can back up to your SD card. Just move the SD card from one phone to another and your app data gets restored quickly.

•  Transistioning from an Android to an iPhone? Go to Settings in the iPhone and select: mail, contacts and calendar and add Account. Choose Other Account and select Add CardDAV account, then for the server enter: “google.com.” This will transfer your Google information to your iPhone quickly.
