Want the satisfaction of clearing your inbox each day but think it’s impossible? It’s not. PubMatic CEO Rajeev Goel has mastered the art of reading and responding to every email. Here’s how he does it:

  • Stop thinking that email is work. It helps you do your job, but you shouldn’t spend a significant amount of time managing it. Keep that in mind, and you won’t rush to check email every time you receive an alert.
  • Start each day by reviewing emails. Quickly read all your emails, deleting those that you need to read but not act on. For emails that require a response, add those to your to-do list.
  • End each day replying to urgent emails. Add anything you need to take care of to your to-do list for the next day. If emails aren’t urgent, Goel recommends that you wait because the faster you reply, the more email you will receive.
  • Arrange your inbox by conversation. Any emails with the same subject line will be grouped together, and you can process the entire conversation at once.
