Question: "My company is gearing up to get into social media. They seem pretty open to creativity, so I'd like to know if anyone's noticed any companies out there that really seem to know how to get people's attention on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. I'd like to start following and befriending them to learn the tricks of the trade." - Everett, Admin Team Lead

I happen to follow JetBlue on Twitter and I think they’re a good example of how a company can use it for customer service. The response time when you post there is really quick. It makes it easy for the customers because you don’t have to go to a website and hunt around.

If anyone is familiar with Vine, I’m impressed with what some companies can do with 6-second videos. Our social media expert at work showed me that the Oreo brand (the cookie) actually has a big following for their videos, which are very creative. There’s only so much you can talk about a cookie, but they seem to have found a way around that! She also talked to us about how Red Bull uses all their social media to identify themselves with a particular way of living (thrill-seeking), not just their product, so they draw in many more people than just Red Bull-drinkers.

I had started following Zappos because I like what they sold, and then I found that they do a lot of fun and interesting things on Facebook and often chime in on their own postings instead of just posting and going silent. That’s one very key thing to do so people know you’re aware, and they do it well.

I would reccommend Grant Cardone – Cardone Zone. He hits it hard.
