Q. Can I animate charts once I paste them into PowerPoint from Excel?
A. Though I always caution against overanimating presentations, a case can be made for bringing in chart elements in a sequence to better communicate their meaning. One example would be showing columns in a column chart, one quarter at a time.
To accomplish this, select the chart and choose the type of animation you want to use, such as Fly In. Click the Effect Options button. Then you can select to animate chart elements by Series, Category, Element in a Series, or Element in a Category. You can adjust the sequence by editing the animation in the Animation Pane. Just click the Animation Pane button in the Advanced Animation group on the Animation tab.
