Annual trips to SF field office help East Coast staff recharge

Every year, junior-level staff members in the Virginia office of Merritt Group take a trip to San Francisco.

Merritt execs figure a week at the communication firm’s California office—which involves bunking in a corporate apartment and sightseeing between meetings with colleagues and clients—is a good way to integrate staff at the bi-coastal organization.

“It always helps when the employees get to know each other on a personal level. It promotes team building,” says VP of Organizational Development Patty Groce.

The company has 25 employees in Virginia and 10 in San Francisco. Junior San Francisco staff members visit the Reston, VA, headquarters as well.
