Bruce Douglas is president of Education Dynamics, a marketing services and technology firm dedicated to getting students to the right program at the right school at the right time. The firm is based in Hoboken, N.J.
EL: What’s the best advice you’ve received on?
Douglas: A boss I had years ago told me, “Get it right the first time even if it takes a little longer. Don’t cut corners.” That was great advice. I used to think that doing it faster was better. But when he said, “Do it once. Do it right,” I got it.
EL: How do you organize your time with so many competing demands?
Douglas: If I accepted every meeting that I was invited to, I’d be in meetings all day. When I do go to meetings, I want to focus on those areas that need the most help, where we’re struggling. Also, I try to carve out a certain amount of time to think about strategy. I get into the office early so that gives me quiet time to think strategically...(register to read more)
