On Jan. 30, Ron Kline, an employee of toilet manufacturer Mansfield Plumbing, reached a career milestone most people would never dream of: 50 years of perfect attendance.
Hired on Jan. 30, 1965, at the age of 20 at the company’s Perrysville, Ohio, factory, Kline has no plans to retire. After spending his first 18 years with Mansfield as a toilet inspector, Kline started driving trucks. “I’ve been able to make deliveries to every state east of the Mississippi River,” Kline said. “Nowadays I mostly deliver to our customers in Ohio and shuttle product from our plant to the warehouse.”
The secret to working more than 12,750 days without missing a shift, according to Kline: “I’m basically a happy, healthy person, which has allowed me to work so long without a sick day.”
