Just like the internet, dealing with your email can waste lots of time. Keeping a clear inbox allows you to address only recent emails without sifting through piles of old ones. Set some ground rules for yourself to handle your email efficiently.

  1. Handle it once. When you open an email, decide right then what you will do with it. Respond to it, file it or delete it.
  2. Unsubscribe. If you’re getting too many newsletters or junk email, take the time to unsubscribe. It will save time dealing with future emails.
  3. Schedule time. If your inbox is out of control, schedule time to clean it up. Add the task to your schedule so you follow through.
