Years of experience may be the largest factor in becoming recognized as an expert in your field. However, there are many proactive ways to position yourself as a knowledgeable person. Use the following methods to build your credibility:

  • Write articles. Create content for trade journals or magazines in your field. Consider guest blogging on relevant sites as well.
  • Start a blog. With your blog, publish up-to-date, relevant content on news and advances in your field to become a reliable source for industry information. Then drive traffic to your blog by promoting it through social media.
  • Seek out speaking engagements. Look for opportunities to become a guest speaker for networking groups or community organizations. Those are great opportunities to expand your brand and share your knowledge with new audiences.
  • Volunteer. Join industry associations or serve nonprofits that align well with your brand or industry. Those opportunities make you more visible and boost your name recognition among people in your industry.
