It’s fun to be one of the first people to get new technology, but sometimes it’s not worth the effort, writes Lifehacker’s Alan Henry. If there’s something you think you can’t live without, he offers a few tips to help you avoid coming down with a case of buyer’s remorse.
• Don’t be the first in line. Let a couple of real-life reviews come out before you decide to buy.
• Look at the company’s record. Has the organization supported its products in the past? Are there a lot of upgrades?
• Consider the fan base. A large fan base can be a good support group if you’re having problems.
• Check your wallet. If you fall for the hype and the product is a lemon, will you regret spending that much?
