Many people can be hesitant at the prospect of blindly emailing a CEO or other powerful person, sayswriter and entrepreneur Peter Sims. But CEOs often love to hear from their employees or customers. Sims offers these tips for sending an unsolicited message:
• Don’t expect a response. The failure rate is significant.
• Email no more than once every two days. If you have no response after three or four attempts, give up.
• Write on a weekend. Executives have more time to read email at a computer on weekends. And that’s where they’re most likely to respond.
• Keep your message concise and relevant. Executives don’t have time for a lengthy read.
