Watch out for a new tax scam making the rounds. Typically, the caller identifies himself as an IRS representative or agent and caller ID shows up as being the IRS. Then taxpayers on the receiving end are threatened with losing their driver’s license, being deported or being arrested if they don’t pay their taxes.

Know that initial contact from the IRS never comes via the telephone. If you receive such a call, notify the Treasury Department at (800) 366-4484.
