Use Word’s Paragraph Settings dialog box to set tab stops

If you know the precise locations for tab stops, use the Para­­graph Settings dialog box. (Home tab, Paragraph group, Dialog Box Launcher (î)).

In the bottom left of the dialog box, click the Tab … button. Enter your tab stops, clicking the Set button for each. If you’re “­eyeballing it,” on the View tab, in the Show group, click the Ruler check box. Click the L-shaped button in the upper left corner of the Word window under the ribbon, to choose the desired tab type (right, center, left, etc.) Click a location on the ruler to set it.
