Author, consultant, and "management guru" Wolf Rinke has a simple message for you: Everything you know about leadership is wrong.

In his book Don't Oil the Squeaky Wheel, Rinke debunks management myths and offers counterintuitive strategies to lead readers toward "contrarian leadership." "Assumptions that have worked for you in the past," he writes, may "need to be revisited, re-evaluated, and — horror of horrors — changed." Here are some of Rinke's new management maxims:

- Don't have people work for you. "All of us work for only one person — ourselves," Rinke writes.
