Most weight-loss regimens bring a frown to a dieter’s face. We dread draconian programs that require so much sacrifice and denial that we know we’re bound to give up.
In January, spread awareness for healthy weight loss while injecting fun into the proceedings. The Healthy Weight Network celebrates its 17th annual Healthy Weight Week from January 17–23. This includes “Rid the World of Fad Diets & Gimmicks Day” on January 19.
The network recently announced its annual Slim Chance Awards for the “worst” weight-loss products of 2009. As proc-laimed on its website (healthyweightnetwork.com), “Diet quackery defrauds, disables and kills.”
On a positive note, the weeklong celebration focuses on sensible ways to address weight problems. The group takes a holistic approach to weight loss by examining the role of exercise and integrating other productive habits into your daily life.
One way to recognize healthy habits is to help staffers reduce stress. Encourage them to use their breaks to take brisk walks and then sit quietly in a dark, quiet room for one minute to flush anxious thoughts out of their mind.
