Do you work smart?

Self-delusion can afflict the best of us. You may think you’re highly productive, but it’s sometimes hard to tell. Consider management theorist Russell Ackoff’s lighthearted but wise observation, “The more efficient you are at doing the wrong thing, the wronger you become.”

You’ll avoid fooling yourself by tracking real results, not illusory gains. Keeping busy by racing around all day doesn’t guarantee success. Larry Winget, an author and commentator, said, “Don’t measure activity. Measure accomplishment.”
