Most organizations undergo change campaigns every year or two. If stubborn employees prefer to resist and cling to the status quo, quote the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., “Time doesn’t bring change. People bring change over time.”

One of the biggest impediments to organizational change is workers’ acceptance of entrenched beliefs about what works and what won’t work. These outmoded beliefs can block receptivity to something new. Consider the late philosopher Marshall McLuhan’s comment, “Most of our assumptions have outlived their uselessness.”
