It’s not always appropriate for presentation handouts to match your slides. After all, who needs a handout page that says “Lunch”? Connect slide and handout pages by inserting a text placeholder on Slide Master layouts for the handout page number. It allows your attendees to easily orient themselves to their materials.

Click View> Slide Master. Select the Title and Content layout. Then click Master Layout> Insert Placeholder and select Text. Insert it in whichever corner is most convenient. Format the font and size big enough to be seen from the front of the room. Copy it to other layouts as needed.
