Q. After navigating and drilling down through several folders and subfolders, the “breadcrumb” trail at the top is no longer accurate. How can I fix that?
A. The breadcrumb trail only displays limited levels of nested folders. The problem may not be SharePoint. It might be the approach. One frequent misstep is to recreate the folder structure of your network drives in SharePoint. Rather than nested folders, consider establishing separate libraries that serve a particular purpose and placing them all in web parts on a team site. A good general rule to follow is that finding what users want most to locate should take three or less clicks. If there’s too much drilling down into subfolders, users may start saving documents on their hard drives, defeating the purpose of SharePoint libraries.
