If you’ve ever wondered, “Am I making a comparable salary?”, there are great information resources to stop wondering and start knowing. The following sites were tested using the title Technical Trainer with relatively consistent results.

  • Bureau of Labor Statistics: This site requires some drilling down to get to the right hourly number. Start on the Data Tools tab and scroll to Pay and Benefits – National Compensation Survey. Comprehensive data are available through 2010. Multiply re­­sult by 2080 to get an annual salary.
  • Salary.com: Easy-to-use site that lets you ­compare real world job titles in your geographic area. It also provides additional resources for job searches and lets you approach the data from the standpoint of an employer or job-seeker.
  • Salary Expert: This site lets you enter and refine employee-provided data by college, certifications and other relevant information, yielding some very precise information.
