You can burn about 40 calories an hour just by standing, according to a new study at the University of Chester in the U.K. The study involved a small group of office workers who were told to stand for three hours a day while doing their tasks.
Results: The workers burned an extra 0.7 calories a minute (42 calories an hour). That’s 630 calories a week—about 30,000 calories a year or eight pounds of fat!
