If Americans were taking a new job and had their choice of a boss, they would prefer a male boss over a female boss by 35% to 23%, although 40% would have no preference, according to a new Gallup poll.
The percentage of Americans who would opt to work for a woman is the highest since Gallup began asking the question in 1953. Only 27% of women said they wanted a woman to supervise them. One group more likely to want a female boss: Employees who already work for one—32% of employees whose current manager is a woman said they prefer it.
